Leading through change is a challenge
Leadership coaching provides confidential supports to you while leading your staff through these challenging times and motivate them to develop and succeed.
The Kubler-ross change curve is a model that has been used in organizations and leadership coaching for quite a while and it explores the different reactions people have to change. An overview of 3 key stages.
Stage 1 – Denial
Initially, there is denial, this isn’t going to affect me, nothing’s going to change. Then we realize things are different and start to feel anger frustration and sadness. We then dip down the curve to our lowest point and
only when then do we have acceptance.
Stage 2 – Acceptance
Accept things are different, once we get acceptance then we start to experimenting and start to see how can I make this work for me.
You will have gone through this in the last eight weeks. You go down the curve, think you’ve got to your lowest point but no there’s further setbacks. You get back into the anger and frustration. Then you go again, start to experiment, and gradually move forward. You find what is going to work and integrate it into your life and way of working.
Stage 3 – Action
When going through change it’s important to get footholds as you move forward at each stage. Stop and review where you are, what you have achieved. If progress is slow accept it is okay, acknowledge it sit
with it, reflect what can I do to move forward.
This is where leadership coaching can help you. Help you think about what you are wanting to aim for. How to get there and what’s going to create stability and help me move forward.
Do I need to let go of something? Or do I need to sit and actually accept the situation?
Acknowledge what you are actually going through. it’s okay to try things out, it’s okay to pause for a while but it’s also important that you move forward at some stage.
