2020 has been a stormy year to date!
I’m mature enough to know it’s realistic to expect setbacks in life but we are certainly being challenged in 2020.
I suspect the majority of us have experienced major disruption to our lives and have had to face significant challenges and setbacks over the last 5 months. It is becoming apparent that our pre covid lives are not returning for a while. We need strategies to be able to live with this disruption in a sustainable way.
This may sound pessimistic, however, there is a trait that can be cultivated through career coaching to enable us to cope and recover from difficult times. This trait is resilience.
Resilience allows us to be secure in ourselves, even when faced with challenges and setbacks. Being resilient does not mean dismissing our setbacks, but allows us to move on and develop as a person after experiencing disappointment. The strength to take it on the chin is an inspirational and enviable quality. This can be developed with professional coaching, and with practice and self-reflection, you can become more resilient. With enough resilience, you will find yourself not only able to withstand setbacks but able to be fearless in your pursuit of new challenges.
Once you appreciate that you are resourceful to deal with challenges, you are already more resilient. Career coaching and personal development helps you to appreciate this important point and can help you gain the confidence to move on from setbacks and prepare you to jump into your next challenge.
So how can you be resilient?
There are key traits that help build resilience – where do you sit on a score of 1 -10?
